Boardwalk Audi was established in 2000 when Boardwalk Auto Group acquired Central Audi of Richardson, Texas. Since then Boardwalk Audi has grown into one of the most dynamic dealerships in the nation for the pioneering German manufacturer.
Since it’s founding in 1909 by German engineer August Horch, Audi has relentlessly pursued leading-edge automotive technology and top-flight performance. From the 248.5 mile-per-hour speed record set by the Audi 16-cylinder Streamliner Racing Car in 1937, to the World Rally Championships captured by the Audi Quattro in the 1980s, Audi has a storied history of engineering excellence.
In 1986, Audi became the first manufacturer to introduce cars with fully galvanized, corrosion-resistant bodies to the mass market. Audi took a quantum leap in automotive engineering in 1994 with the Audi A8, the first production car featuring an aluminum space frame chassis. In 1989, Audi launched the first direct-injection passenger car diesel engine. The performance and efficiency results have been stunning.
In 2006 an Audi R10 TDI diesel powered to victory at the 24 hours of Le Mans–the first time in history a diesel captured the Le Mans crown. Audi R15 TDI cars swept the first three spots at Le Mans in 2010. This marks the fourth time Audi achieved a one-two-three conquest and the ninth victory for Audi at the French endurance classic. In addition, Audi amassed nine victories (eight consecutive) at the 12 Hours of Sebring: six for the R8, two for the R10 TDI, and a 2009 triumph for the R15 TDI.
This super-efficient, clean diesel technology was featured in the 2008 Audi Mileage Marathon, a 4,800-mile cross-country rally showcasing a fleet of 23 Audi TDI models. The rally route from New York to Los Angeles threaded through Dallas in early October of that year.
